Burnt Bread terminology
At the start of September 2023, I came up with a system for categorizing different types of works of my favorite ship - Glass Joe / Aran Ryan, a.k.a. "Burnt Bread". It sorts works based on two four-level scales, namely of length and intensity.
Length
- crumb - a short oneshot, or a "single-panel" drawing
- slice - a medium-length fic, or a multiple-panel single-page comic
- loaf - a longer fic, or a multiple-page comic
- baguette - when the word count begins to approach that of a novel (graphic or not)
Intensity
- scorched - only light romantic interactions
- charred - they begin making out or doing something suggestive
- incinerated - they go into the explicit zone
- vaporized - when the stuff becomes especially wild
When you don't care how long a work is, you simply call it bread, and when you don't care about how explicit it is, you simply call it burnt.
Examples
Scorched Crumb
Scorched Slice
Charred Crumbs
I will not put any examples of incinerated bread here, but it's very easy to find on AO3.
